Ships Transaction Denied! you have 19t of Cargo and the New ship you want can only hold 8

I'm struggling with this and frustrated. Current ship Cobra MK111 wanting to buy a Vulture. I've stored the items i want to keep. However with i choose the option to store ship and buy the new one i get the message above. WTH how do get around this? I can't sell my cargo racks for some reason. I may lose my "stuff" i'd rather not but at this point i don't care. Sell me the damn ship!
Thanks in advance .

You can't store cargo and you can't sell a cargo rack that has cargo in it.

If you were buying a ship that has more cargo space, the cargo would have been transfered to your new ship with you, but since you're buying Vulture, that will not be the case. Your only option is to sell whatever you've got in your cargo hold (or do whatever you want to do with that cargo to get rid of it) and once you're empty (or you have 8t or less left) you can return and buy the Vulture.

Apologies, I know it's frustrating but it's the only way.

i guess it's just a bunch of "Stuff" that i picked up, ship drops , other things. things that sound "enginerie" stuff that might be needed to craft stuff some day? i guess i could look the stuff up but im ok with selling. if i can. Thanks for the replys

this stuff, and i can't seem to delete it. but good lord i cant see this being 19tons . i took most everything out of the ship aside from the core stuff so im going to see what i can do.

Engineers don't use anything that is stored as cargo.

They use materials (Raw, Manufactured and Encoded) which are stored differently and won't factor in to the issue you describe here.

Interested to know what is this 19t of cargo you are so keen to hold onto?
Id like to be able to mine in my Krait and then load up a type 9 that i filled to the gills with cargo racks and take several hundred of ton in at a time without having to run my krait to a destination or try to mine in type 9. But poor game design makes it so i cant do such things.

Fleet carrier will allow you to do that.

Neither of the screens you posted is the cargo screen.

You need to be in the top tab (the one with a canister on it) of the menu in your second screenshot to see what's on your cargo rack, the materials you're looking at don't count towards the total tonnage

Those things don't take up cargo space. They are engineering materials that is stored in an invisible warehouse that you can access anywhere and any time.
