Transfer a Data Delivery Mission?

Greetings,

I'm in a slow large trading ship and get a Naval Data Delivery mission to rank up. I prefer to deliver it in a smaller faster combat ship. So will the mission transfer if I accept it in the large ship then transfer to the small ship? If I just leave the mission board without accepting the mission, swap the ships then come back it will no longer be there.

Cargo works OK as long as the transfer ship has the space. But since data is 'stored in the ship's computer' I'm wondering if it would work. If it doesn't then an option is to hang around in the small ship for another Naval mission...or fly the large one.

Yes, Data Deliveries carry no cargo.

Thanks Mohrgan. I just completed and confirmed that data missions also transfer. Good thing too as I got attacked with a heat generating weapon but got away!

Missions are given to Commanders, not to Ships.
As long as the ship has the requisite capabilities, you can complete any mission in any ship, and change ships at any time.
Obviously, this does not work with large cargo-delivery missions (Transport 100 tons of Dodads to Somewherefaraway) if your alternate choice of ships does not have this much cargo capacity - in fact you will be unable to change to a ship incapable of handling that much cargo.
