Transform Relog farming into a legitimate mechanic.

Relog farming has been a part of Elite for years, has been widely disliked by both the devs and the community, but it keeps happening nonetheless, because it's the best way to get what you're looking for.

So why not legitimize it?

Wherever relog farming occurs, add a way to respawn the instance without relogging, refreshing all the stuff the player wants.

HOWEVER, when they do this, it also calls in a hostile attacking force. Each time you do it, the attackers get progressively stronger and stronger, without limit.

Players can do things legitimately, and fight off these enemies, giving them both enjoyment and more materials and credits, or they can relog farm it for less danger but more boredom.

Examples for how this might work:

High Grade Emissions - Intact Cargo Bay. Shooting it releases more materials, but sends out an alarm.

Guardian Sites - Drop a Guardian Casket into the console. Resets the area but spawns in guardian sentinels.

Odyssey ground sites - Interact with data ports to download new data from the net, but call in a dropship of enemy troops.

And so on and so forth. The mechanics to do this already exist!

Sounds awful.

What they need to do is come up with a way to gather mats that don't involve relogging.

Do you have an actual tombola that you draw these out of?

Like I said they need to come up with more ways to obtain mats than coming up with a refresh button. Also, whats stopping people relogging anyway and bypassing your mob spawning?

Nothing. They could just do it in a legitimate and enjoyable way, too.

I figure, if they're not going to remove relog farming(which they've shown no indication of doing), why not just make it more legitimate, fun, and challenging?

you know that hardly tolerable thing we have to do in order to bypass the intolerable grind? Let's make it intolerable as well!!! this will fix the problem im sure

Really? I think this would make it much more fun. Lots of stuff to kill!

congrats go head to a high rez extraction. People aren't reloading davs hope because its fun. They are doing it so they can grind the mats so they can go do something else.

If they wanna keep relogging, they can still do that. Or they can spawn in some enemies and kill them instead. Sounds good all around to me.

Conflict within a High Grade Emission??

Should make it worth while and have the spawned ships drop additional grade 5 mats (random or state specific) besides the grade 5 mats that originally spawn within a HGE (1-5 mat drops)

sounds like working on a pointless mechanic when they could be working on a way to fix the gameplay encouraging people to relog

It's an easy fix to a problem that otherwise is much more complicated. Creating new dynamic gameplay loops is hard. Making a button that spawns enemies and loot is easy.

Something is better than nothing.

Just doubling the mats spawning at High Grade emission saignals and adding plentiful G3 and G4 mats in Degraded emissions while removing the respawn on relog will solve the issue. Same with scanning wakes if it gives you more and higher-grade data will make relogging at Jameson cobra obsolete.

Materials and unlocking frankly need a dose of diazepam and calmed down.

One run in a Guardian site (i.e. all pylons lit, spinny ball deployed) = one full Guardian unlock and supply everything you need. No relogging is needed.

G1 to G5 unlocking got rid of. Everything is unlocked like tech brokers. Experimentals do this, so just extend this out so everything has a fixed unlock price.

Halve or even quarter mat requirements for everything. Tech brokers, synth, engineers etc.

One rare (or load) is required to gain favour with an engineer- so one trip alone and none of this Marco I hate you Qwent type problems.

What? You want to get rid of the infinite grind? What else could we do?

You joke about this...and we laugh...

But really, that is the problem, isn't it?
It's a sobering truth.

Burning a candle from both ends give you more light, to be sure.
It also consumes it that much faster.

The problem with Elite grinding has, in the end, very little to do with the grind itself. There's been seven years to solve this fundamental challenge, and FDev has yet to figure it out. I suspect they never will.

If the unlocking was simpler and cheaper it would also promote more experimentation with tech broker stuff as well. I wonder how many people are put off by the unlocking requirements for edge case modules?
