"Transmission not sent; Unable to connect to *CMDR*" - reactivation.

The last thread about it was closed along with the Gamma forum, but the bug is still here, in 1.0.

For the 9 hours straight during my live stream I couldn't send a message or call anyone from my friends list. They had to message me first, then I could reply and even initiate voice comms. Same thing was happening to one of my friends from a different country. It was working just fine pre-Gamma 2.

My friend had this issue, he disabled Norton Anti-Virus and it solved the issue completely.

If you have an agressive anti-virus program, find a way to make it play nice with Elite Dangerous. (or turn it off)

Ever since G2.05 hit and now in release I have been completely unable to chat with anyone on my friends list. This is completely unacceptable for a so calledMMO advertised as play with your friends.

How can I play with my friends if I can't even communicate with them in the first place?!

I have same issue.

BTW Do you see other people in space? I do not mean occassional 1 guy. I mean a more than 3 at once? (at station or in SC) Cause i do not. Even in systems with high player traffic.

Same problem here. Can text to one friend, can't text to another. First friend can't text to second friend.

For me, this went away totally on 1.01. I text-commed back and forth all night, for the past 4 hours. Worked every time.
I tried to text you this afternoon, but got the bug again (unable to connect blabla).

If you see me coming online next time, could you do me a favour, and text me after 5mins or so....to test if it works from you > me instead.

Btw, what happened to the -X- and @ symbols next to friends names?
The -X- used to indicate that I wasn't connected to a friend, and the spinning @-thingy indicated that I was connecting to him.

I have the same problem, submitted a support ticket 3 days ago.

Edit: Confirmed: if the other side sends a message to me first, then I can reply.
Restarting my router did not help. I'll try the manual port forwarding next.

same here, works with some people - with some doesnt, and always seem to work when we are in same system/station.
Also have UDP 5100 forwarded to my NIC.

I have the same problem with one of my friends. Text chat always failed with "Transmission not sent...", i have verbose logging on and spotted this in the log:

Note: my friends IP is the one with .112 on the end (don't bother checking the ip, we change it every time while re-dial DSL)

And with other commanders in vicinity @ SC, text chat worked. And there's no SYNC error. Whatever that means.
Need FD to clarify what "Unable to establish connection with SYNC" means. We have disabled all firewall, use DMZ to allow all ports to be redirected to the sole computer. Tried with uPnP on/off, port forwarding. Nothing helps..

I'm going to try to let him use my network since he's here now and going to post an update how it went here.

disabled Norton Anti-Virus and it solved the issue completely.

Its amazing just how many issues can be solved by simply removing Norton's and McAffee's intrusive anti-virus bloat-ware...

And this has been known for so long, its hard to believe people don't eventually just get something else, like eSet, Kaspersky or simply stick to the unobtrusive MS Defender that comes free with Windows.

True but that's not the only cause.

I had the same comms problem as the others, couldn't send messages outside of my instance.
Then I did the portforwarding & config mod from this thread, 1st post, works now :)
.
Tempted to add that link to my sig........

Was having this same issue and did the config steps as described and had no luck... Until I remembered Windows Firewall was in the way. Opened the same port in Windows Firewall and works like a charm. Can transmit and receive without issue.

So if you try the port forwarding, don't forget to check your windows firewall state as well as your router.

"It's not the game's fault, its yours"
"Just imagine you're sending the message"
"If you don't like it, leave"

2 weeks here with unable to talk to my friends. Probably my fault. Haven't changed anything soft- or hardware wise.

Ya know, I looked through the thread to see who tried to defend this issue and didn't see it. The only one saying that here is you.

Give port forwarding a shot. Who knows, it might work. FD's got your money. You got nothing to lose...

The one time I actually tried the in-game chat, I got the same result. After all I've heard about the current state of the comms, I didn't bother to try again since.
