Horizons Transport explorer to "collection of wonders" - how to complete mission?

So I've spent the best part of 1.5 weeks travelling 15000 light years to take an explorer to a dumb tourist location. He uploads where he wants to go to my panel, and I go there. Sit there a while. Fly around. Bump into the beacon. Fly around the system and scan everything.

After all of this, I get absolutely no indication the mission is complete and I can take him home. Without spending another 1.5 weeks flying home to find I missed some obscure step, is there a way I can tell if the mission is completed? Or is there something special I need to do? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Anyone else had any luck completing these? There's 10 million credits at stake here...

Sorry for your luck. However, I think passenger missions are broken. I picked up a couple yesterday, it wasn't much, a handful of eco class missions all to the same system about 3 jumps away, not worth but ~800k in total. Took them to their desired location, docked up where they wanted, there was absolutely no way to turn in the mission. After 30 minutes of logging in and out, check passenger/mission board and every other available screen in the game, I had to just abandon and move on, I couldn't turn them in... So it's either broken, or some hidden game mechanic they haven't told me about.

Heh. Yeah, sometimes you just need to switch to the galaxy map. You'll see the new target destination system and get a new message at the same time.

(At least this is what i've noticed a fair few times anyway. YMMV.)

I don't know how to help the OP, but in your case, check that you have material or data space free. Occasionally, one of the rewards is a material or data - If you don't have space for them, then you can't turn the mission in.

did you scan the tourist beacon? you didn't mention it in your post - you need to target it via CONTACTS panel, like a ship, wait for the scan to finish.

than you get a mission update saying "bring me back".

If you can't turn in the mission after you've completed it and have returned to the original station, the reason is usually not enough free cargo space.

I didn't took a distant exploration mission yet, but I did take several medium range missions (a few hundred LY for 6-10 million CR). At the end, the passanger always said something like "That's it, now take me back home". Are you sure you scanned the correct thing at your destination?

Yeah, I needed to scan the beacon (I finally did) and I got the "take me home" message. Thank goodness I figured that out - that would have been annoying... Thanks for the help guys.
