Transporter from the original elite

I wanted to create the "transporter" from the original elite. So here's my interpretation, I think maybe it leans more towards the original adder. I felt like it needed to also look functional and cheap to make.

It looks a lot smaller then the original Transporter though; while I don't remember seeing stats, I always had the impression that the original Transporter was a bit wider than a Cobra III, but four times longer. By my recollection of the Lore, the Transporter was designed to shuttle cargo between station and surface; the Worm Shuttle carried passengers, and was much more the size of your ship.

I only remember this because every time I see advertisements for the Volkswagen Transporter (a van that's often sold here in Australia as a people-mover), I always find myself thinking "no, that's not right, the Transporter is supposed to carry freight, not passengers". It takes me a while to figure out why my subconscious is making me think this; it's because of all the Elite I used to play back in the Commodore 64 days.

you know , you are spot on , thanks for reminding me . My first taste of elite was in my school's computer room on a bbc in 1984 when I used to watch everyone else play it . later on I bought the c64 version which I used on my brothers c64. it's probably a subconcoius thing, I had forgotten about the worm shuttle but it must have been there, somewhere in my head .

the front of my transporter / worm transporter does have a cargo bay.

In Frontier First Encounters the Transporter is listed as being about twice the mass of the Cobra mk3.

Cheers,
