transporting people is a good idea

I just realized how adding people to the game (as a transportable commodity) is very important.

the reason why is because people tend to have specific destinations, unlike cargo. food can be bought anywhere and sold anywhere, but
people want to be picked up from a specific place and dropped off at a specific place. that means that they will have to pay more, and
you will have to fly where they want to go, not where you want to go.

it should be an easy element to add to the game, you just need to add the destination to the 'commodity' and that's it.

+1 to this!
Though you might need a ship upgrade to allow you to transport people, maybe. A conversion for your cargo hold to make it suitable for people.

like your thinking sir!

I quite like this idea, as the person being transported could be anyone from a lowly middle management type right up to a corporate VIP who would then come with added responsibilities like avoiding certain jurisdictions, arriving by a minimum time et et or other groups intent on their demise... you could even fly as the escort for said VIP's craft.

Frontier had transport missions in it, but you would need a Cabin and a pressurised hold in order to do it iirc.

Would be a good feature to add eventually!

Thanks for posting that video, very interesting! I love the idea that I might get to captain a cruise liner. Maybe if it's big enough it would need player/npc fighter escorts, or even have a docking bay to maintain a contingent of escort and shuttle ships.
