Transporting Slaves

I've started my exciting career as a slave trader (I also smuggle narcotics on the side), but I have a few questions.

1. Are the slaves kept in some sort of stasis/suspended animation (like in Alien, or 2001: a space odyssey), or are they awake and fully aware of their predicament? Disturbing...

2. If slavery is a real part of this future world, then I can see some sort "intercept/kill on sight" policy towards those who trade in them. Every slaver becomes wanted with an ever increasing bounty, based on the number of slaves he's traded. "slaver" would also come up on the KWS.

Personal preferences may wary, however on your first point, the more attractive part of the female slave contingent do, as a rule, spend their time in my ship's jacuzzi ;)

As for trading them, the imperial slaves are "voluntary" slaves, paying of debt, in stead of going to debt prison. A fine and honorable activity much respected throughout the Empire. As for regular slaves, well, if you get caught running them in a non-anarchy system you typically get a massive (>1m fine) and become hostile to local faction (usually with insta-death as result since this would typically happen next to a station) and you would ruin your main faction as well. So I think the punishment is already extremely severe. If you get caught that is.

Remember that Elite Dangerous doesn't try to force morals upon you, and you shouldn't try to force your morals upon other players. I'm friendly creature in RL, but in ED I'm EVIL! :p

Somewhere in the DDF archives there is a description that says that unless you are carrying slaves as passengers in something like an Orca, then slaves in the hold of your ship are in some kind of stasis and their 'tonnage' includes life support. Imperial Slaves are meant to always be carried as passengers, although, as the passenger rules are not yet in play, this is not currently possible.

Nay. just NAY. The present Fines / Bounties system is fine at the moment.

Whenever I hear insolent behaviour from my cargo hold, I fly close to the sun for a couple of minutes, works wonders :D

This thread gave me an idea. If slave trading is illegal in some systems (because those systems do not agree with the idea of slavery) then destroying said slave trading vessel with slaves on board kills the slaves they were trying to save. In essence, blowing up the ship provides a worse fate for the slaves than slavery itself.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Comparing behaviour in history, American slavers use to throw them over board when they saw the Royal Navy on the horizon. Jettison them would be a interesting dilemma, would the Police/rescuer opt to save the floating slaves or nail the slaver?

I carry slaves sometimes too, I do it to kinda RP being bad, but there's not really that much profit in it and the risks certainly make it pointless which is a shame.

Don't get caught smuggling them in a station were it's illigal, because the controlling faction in the system and their allies will start to dislike you very quickly.
