Traps in Solo mode!? Sticky throttle in super cruise?! Tutorials?!

So, today I stopped at a strong signal source. I did not have any wanted status or any other bounties. There were just some canisters floating on radar. Nothing else. As soon as I stopped to grab one, about 6 ships appeared on radar and attacked and killed me in about 2 seconds. Seriously, I had zero time to escape. I was in Solo mode. This has to be my most aggravating experience in this game so far. After nearly nothing as to how to game works is explained while playing it, I get ganked by NPCs. They didnt scan me or ask for cargo. Just instant death for salvaging cargo. Is this as intended? What is point of NPC's killing people for fun? Whats the point of setting a trap for an Eagle with no cargo?

Aside from this pointless experience, I have to say. This game needs about 20 more tutorials in the tutorial section. The currently selection barely scratches the surface. None the tutorials will actually lead to credit gains. If the game wants me to bumble around the universe alt tabbing websites and failing for days on end, I have to say its pretty lazy.

Also, anyone notice that you can throttle down much easier the further you are from a destination. I mean this in supercruise. The closer you are to a destination the "brakes" work less efficiently. Far away, I can go from 100c to 0 in like 5 secs. If Im approaching a target and going too fast the throttle seems stick and reducing speed does not work as well. Ive notice the nav computer reduces speed automatically on approach, but why in the world would it reduce your ability to reduce speed manually!? Shinanigans!

Btw is there any way to play without this auto throttling feature on?

You ran into what is commonly refered to as an ambush. That is intended. Strong signal source are usually meant for Wings. Anyways, welcome to Elite Dangerous! ;)

Strong signal sources were added in 1.2 wings update to allow for multiple players to face harder enemies. Therefore yes, fully intended, with no challenge the game becomes stale. If it were easy you'd have an Anaconda in a week...
Again the old classic: This is Elite: Dangerous, not Elite: Slightly difficult

This game harks to the old school days where instruction manuals and gameplay guides came as standard with every purchase. Its a game where it does not hold your hand but kicks you out into the sandbox with a level 1 shovel and a rough direction to start walking. (Some enjoy it, some don't)
None of that handholdy Call of Duty nonsense where it teaches you how to use the left mouse button...
Yes the tutorials could be better, no I don't think they ever will be.

Nope, wrong and nope you can't disable it. The throttle is tied to how close you are to an object which is why you can be flying at 10C and the throttle bar can appear as both empty and full depending on your location to the nearest object.
The closer you are to say the sun, the lower your max speed. This is a oft repeated criticism and the simplest answer is keep the target at roughly 6-7 seconds and you will be fine all the time.

Edit:
A video review on the subject (one of my personal favorites) which could help you get a judge of the game somewhat: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/9991-Elite-Dangerous-Review

A quick tip when in SC heading for a station/platform, leave your throttle at 75% and it will automatically slow you down until you see a message on screen to drop from SC. No more throttle back now messages when you are to close and then overshooting. The auto throttle is a feature of the game when you are in SC.

Regards

As a rule of thumb (thottle in supercruise):
Move from full throttle into the "blue zone" when the distance marker is at approx. 7 seconds.
Then you won't overshoot.
