Travel inside start systems

I think I missed something in the tutorial. I have taken 2 courier missions and both I could not complete because of the distance inside the delivery system.

Here is what I did, please correct my mistakes :)

I jumped to the system that the delivery needs to go. I chose the station in navigation (109,000Ls away) and lined up my ship to it. I hit the Y button to charge up the frame drive and accelerated to engage. I go into warp with the graphics of jumping like I did from system to system, but then I come out of it in super cruise and im still 109,000Ls away from the station.

What have I missed? I have ran out of fuel twice trying to jump to stations even to refuel lol

Excuse my typo,, The title was supposed to say "Travel inside STAR systems"

You can only jump system to system. Once in a system, you must travel to your destination in supercruise, and then when prompted, drop out of supercruise at your destination.

Wow,, I traveled in super cruise for 10 real life minutes and the 109,000Ls distance never changed.
When I first started playing I though I was in super cruise and somehow I wasn't. Easiest way to see is tapping the Y button again. If you start to super cruise you weren't in it yet for whatever reason, might of cancelled it before, too close to a planet or a sun, etc). If you tap Y and it says "double tap to frame shift drop..." or something like that means you are in super cruise. Might just be mass locked to something to slows you down a lot.

If you're in SuperCruise, your speed will be 30km/s at the slowest, and move up quickly to the speed of light (c) and beyond. Look at your speed indicator. When you exit Hyperspace, you're in SuperCruise already, so point in the right direction and throttle up and off you go. If your speed isn't 30km/s or faster, use "A-Up" (classic controls, and a bit Yorkshire sounding) to get into SC. And off you go. :)

109,000Ls is a long way to go. At the speed of light it would take, errr, 109,000s. :) 27 hours or so. But you can move at hundreds of times the speed of light in SuperCruise. Once you get the hang of navigation, you'll find out what's too far, and what isn't. I reckon it'll take about 8-10 minutes to travel that distance including accelerating and decelerating.

OK, I really appreciate the help everyone. I must be messing up my supercruise while in the star systems. Now I cant wait to get off work and go home to see what I did wrong LOL
