An engineered Hauler does the job well enough for me - around 50LY jump range and enhanced drives for a boost of nearly 700m/s.

Admittedly there are heat issues when bouncing from star to star, which occasionally cause me to arrive backwards and on fire, but that's just part of the Hauler's charm!

That sounds like an awesome ship to me! FFIARRRrr

Ah... yeah I get all the Hauler love. I just kind of wish it had +10-20 LY when fully kitted out and engineered (My current one is ~46). I actually didn't realize you could put the enhanced thrusters on it. I'll have to check that out.

If you want the extra 20 then buy a DBX - 70+ for my taxi. Though I am now thinking of building a Hauler, as you would never accuse the DBX of being nippy in normal flight

It's pretty straightforward to build a useful super-speedy Hauler.

Fitting 2A EPTs and light-weighting all the core internals gets you a ship that weighs around 21t (with a full tank of gas) and jumps 50Ly.
The minimum mass for the EPTs is 44t so you can afford to bung 23t of extra stuff on it before the speed drops below 699m/s.

I purpose build my hauler cheap, so that shipping it around the bubble cost about 5000 cr

The addition of a c3 GFSD booster made that strategy a bit obsolete, but the enhanced thrusters are so expensive *sigh*
(not that I can't buy them, I'm a billionaire, but I got a billionaire by grinding the hell out of Rhea not spending much on unnecessary stuff...)

I'm a bit sad that you can't get the A-Team black with red stripe as a single paintjob. So for my Hauler it's taxi yellow too.

What should change is to reclassify Hauler as Passenger or Personal Transport so it is more obvious that is its real use.

And make it yellow paintjob as default.

A new dedicated personal transport would be nice, a tiny Dolphin with a more luxurious look than Hauler. Same performance as Hauler, but preconfigured with D internals and A FSD. 250K 30LY good to go.
No super jump range though, that messes with other ships roles.
