Traveling from the Bubble to SagA*...without Hyperspace! (sneak peak)

ezgif-3-c4337f662a.gif

So I've always wanted to know...what would it look like to fly from LHS 3447 to Sagittarius A* without hyperspace? Getting to see the galactic dust and stars whiz by without the disruptive act of hyperspace jumping. Well...I'm going to find out! Of course I'll still be hyperspace jumping to get there, but what I'm going to do before each jump is select SagA* and align to it, and take a screenshot. Then, I will string all these screenshots together in a high-fps slideshow. The result will be getting to see what it looks like to fly through the galaxy without hyperspace! I will be using my 50ly jump range Asp to accomplish this, and I look forward to sharing the end product with you all when it's finished. The gif up above is just a little preview of what the full thing will look like. When it's done it will be sped up a bit more and smoothed out a lot.

Wish me luck!

Have some rep Cmdr :)

Love the way you can see the dust clouds moving past.

Honestly I don't mind the HUD, I'm assuming it makes it a lot easier to align the shot.

Look forward to the finished vid :)

Anyone else stare at the attached .gif for 3 minutes thinking that it was the finished product? :p
+1 OP. Looking forward to this.

Rep from me as well.

I'll have a quiet word and see if BC thinks it's newsletter worthy etc etc..

I thought it was confirmed by FD that it is not possible to travel between systems without hyperspace. It would be infinite

I was expecting this to be the 300th thread about someone trying to Supercruise to the next system, before even taking into account that trip would take about eleventy million years if it were possible. I was like "Man, this guy is going to be in for a lot of disappointment" lol

I'm very pleasantly surprised to find out you aren't completely unhinged. This is a really cool project, and I can't wait to see the end result.
