Put Post-it-Note on your monitor that says "REQUEST DOCKING". Write with big letters.

Yes I agree the timer should be a little higher, after doing a milkrun about a zillion times one time I just plain forgot to ask permission to dock, brain was getting very tired at this point. As I went into the station up came the trespass warning, Holy ****! I cried panic set in as the timer was counting down then trying to Maneuver my Type 6 around was a nightmare I had seconds to spare, after bouncing off the hull of the space station a number of times I finally found the way out with 6 seconds to go, did I make it out before the station started to fire at me............did I ****! lost 750,000c of cargo as well as insurance cost and some bounties from my Cobra which I forgot to cash in.

With hindsight I should have just reverse thrust but as I said I was tired.

So yes a few extra seconds would have saved me from crying over my Mug of Horlics

Distractions while docking/undocking are dangerous.

Been there, done that. Yep, easy to fix in a viper/cobra, impossible in bigger ships.

I do a verbal check now just before the slot and before I commit.. have I got a blue docking box with a pad number..
