I second the OPs opinion.
I have been playing mostly using DK2, but when selecting a new target on the Galaxy Map I revert back to my monitor (it is just so much more convenient browsing the Galaxy Map on the monitor). Yesterday when I was nearing my current target system in my new exploration trip, I thought I'd explore the last couple of system using my monitor. Oh, what a bore.. Finally I reached my destination, and fired up the Galaxy Map to start hunting for the next interesting target. After I found one, I switched back to my DK2.
After a couple of jumps via the same old M-class Red Dwarf stars, I arrived at a super-bright blue giant star. I have been playing the game on OR DK2 for a month or so now, but arriving at that blindingly bright star, looking around at my beautifully blue-tinted cockpit, I said aloud "Oh, wow, how beautiful" without actually realizing I was speaking aloud! Luckily my Voice Attack did not recognize what I said.
That system even had about 10 small bright T Tauri stars, all of them with their own planets, and all orbiting the main giant star at less than 5000 ls away, so the whole system was a celebration of light. I spent a good 15 minutes just basking at the brightness before forcing myself to start surface scanning the planets.
I then switched back to my monitor to the take some videos for my exploration video diary, all the while thinking about how soon can I get back to DK2 to continue the experience.
So yeah, DK2 has pretty much spoiled me as well.
