So some people recommend this as a place to grind rep. Not in 2.4. Anyone notice something wrong with this?

Pretty pointless. Missions pretty broken here.

I too find way too many missions of distances in excess of 20,000 Ly for a pittance. Really not worth it. You can make more within a few systems from where you are.

This is the problem, they ALL are to Colonia etc. Nothing local at all....

Have you tried the cluster of systems around Lawd 17? (NLT 21440, LP 211-12, LHS 278 etc). I've been there for a while now and they usually have at least four or five factions per station giving out Federation missions. There's usually a reasonable mix too, though they are sometimes a bit heavy on the salvage missions.

I'm no expert on the mission board generation stuff, but am i the only one who sees missions drying up once you get your local rep to top of allied?
To clarify, this seemed to be happening before 2.4 too.
Sorry, bit of a closed question, so please explain/speculate at will ;) o7

I'm in NLTT 8662 at the moment - all 7 factions are Fed aligned, so always at least one will be giving donations, and a nice spread of other missions and passengers. Of course the missions go to multiple systems, so it's no good for all you 2 system grinders, but for a bit of variety it seems ok.

I think Sothis Ceos still works for Fed grind, the to and fro data deliveries are still being generated.

I'm doing Sothis <--> Ceos right now. Once you get to "allied" status with Federation Unite, a good proportion of the courier missions start to be 25,000+ Light Year missions like the one in the OP. Far too far to justify the meagre reward... and in fact my ship is simply incapable of making the journey.

Additionally, it's pot luck whether the Federal Navy missions are "Courier" or some combat-oriented type such as "Strike" (and I'm very much the pacifist player of E:D).

Well I am confused? Some say similar issues in Sothis? Some say it's ok now? I never had these issues pre 2.4 :(

My personal experience was that when 2.4 hit I couldn't get a Federal rank up mission that wasn't combat orientated but after one of the subsequent patches the data delivery rank up missions reappeared.

Combat rank up missions still seem to be more common but just keep doing the loop through the three stations and you'll eventually get a non combat rank up mission. For someone else that was ranking up with me, it wasn't until his second loop that he got the data delivery rank up mission.

Not really focused on the rank up missions, more the fact in my Op most missions I could find are courier missions far, far, far away.

Well I've just finished the Federal grind up there and while there certainly are a number of long distance missions, there are plenty of data delivery missions for the three station loop. You just have to board swap and hate your life enough to not question what you're doing.

Are they "issues", or "opportunities"? I suspect the latter... once you get to a certain standing with a faction, they start to give you long distance courier missions. So long as the short distance ones don't disappear, then I don't see a problem. In Sothis/Ceos, I'm seeing both kinds. Until I read this post, I simply assumed it was an intended part of the game.

I do think the rewards are way too low for a 25,000 Lightyear mission though... so if theres anything to address, then it's that the credits/REP/INF should be way higher! 600,000 Credits for something that would take hours to complete with high risk of failure? Not worth it.

Considering that FDev have said that the low paying trips to places like Colonial are not supposed to incentivize you to go there but are rather just a bonus if you're going there anyway, it's definitely the former.

Well when the boards are full of missions only to Colonia, not quite sure what the option is?

I see a lot of long range (22000 ly or so) missions for very little pay, also.

And many of them expect you to carry lots of cargo, too.

I even saw one to *smuggle* slaves to Colonia Dream. 90 of them for a payout of 500k.

These are ridiculous missions no one will ever take, and the boards are flooded with them.

It definitely needs tweaking.

Yes it's stupid and it sucks but FDev say that it's working as expected as they're not looking for the missions to incentivize you to take the trip. They're just there as a bonus of you're already taking the trip.

As far as I'm concerned that's a load of rubbish but then I don't make the game so it doesn't matter what I think.
