...what is the point? Just do a live stream when there's something to show us. Watching people making idle conversation while playing a game is extremely boring. It's like the video game equivalent of Gogglebox.

It's worse when they don't speak at all, until they SPEAK...

If I were at someone's home and they sat there playing a video game the whole time, I'd leave (unless I was in a closet or something and they didn't know I was there, then I'd try to wait it out). I certainly don't get online to watch strangers play video games over twitches or streams or w/e.

I have friends that just sneak in to eat all my candy when I'm absorbed with a game.

I guess you're not a regular Twitch viewer then.

Yeah info dumps are definitely better, though i guess they're part of frontier so celebrities.

Is bo still working for frontier? I still say she would be a great MC for elite :p

Most of my brain says the only thing that's worth watching is the best we've got.. ie the dav stott livestreams from 2016. Just to spell it out, he's been the only developer who doesn't take slack from anyone or anything, but instead of relying on being 'superior' as the justification goes into a massive technical breakdown of how and why it is the way it is.

Why do we get any less?!?!? Just in case you guys read this cm team, these manners work for addressing community concerns because all the details are given in exchange, theres no cracks of imagination for trolling or negativity to be valid anymore. You don't have to shy away from addressing community issues when you provide basis (in contrast to calling ideas 'rubbish' and leaving it at that, which has also happened).

That's pretty much the entire point of Twitch. South Park even did a whole episode on the phenomenon.

There's deeper understanding and truth hidden in idle conversations of others while they are playing a game. Obviously you'll never understand.

Neither will I.

They are showing the gameplay and thats the problem..., the gameplay...

I just don't understand how Will can be such a terrible pilot. He says he plays in his spare time but he honestly fly's like a total rookie. He gives me the impression that he only ever plays during the livestreams and even then it he looks forced and doesn't enjoy it. Well, I suppose we all can't enjoy our jobs

If I'm watching the live stream then I have to be sat at my PC. If I am sat at my PC watching a live stream then I have time to play a game rather than watch someone else play one.

Witcher 3 it is, then.

Hey there guys!

Just wanted to jump here and clarify: the purpose of our lunchtime Twitch (and now across YouTube and Mixer) livestreams is to touch base with the Elite Dangerous community, to have a little fun and a chat.

When we have something to announce to the community as a whole, you'll find it via our forums, social channels, newsletters and sometimes via a pre-announced livestream. :)

You've just dissed the mission statement of the entire streamer crowd.

The streaming culture revolves around the personalities. It's not the games, it's the show the streamers put on. The vast majority of streamers aren't succesful, only those that are entertaining by themselves are.
And with regards to Frontier's casual streams: I don't think anybody is going to accuse Will (or even Ed before him) of having an exuberant personality on camera that could entertain us while watching him play.

I never missed a stream back when Sandro regularly showed up to discuss upcoming changes, but I don't quite see the point of these 'keeping in touch with the community' streams. There is no information being shared with the community yet, so surely whatever keeping in touch is needed ought to be one-way matter, from the community to the CM team? No need for you guys to show up on camera and be awkward for an hour just to listen to community feedback.

Watching a stream of someone playing a game is like when you were little and watched friends playing games you don't like to play but like to watch them play.

Unless you never did that, in which case too bad for you I guess ?

Anyway, have a nice day :)
