Triggering an expansion, another BAGS noob question

Triggering an expansion, another BGS noob question

There is a system id like to turn anarchy. The problem is there are no anarchy factions currently in the system. Anyway to cause a neighboring anarchy faction to expand in?

Just increase the influence of an anarchy faction in a nearby system up 20LY away, then get them into expansion state (Around 70% influence I think) then pray to RNGesus that they expand into the system you want them in.

Ok. (You're probably not gonna like this)

1. First of all, you need to make sure that the system you want to turn anarchy (I'll call this the Target System from now on) has 6 factions or less. If it doesn't you'll need to make a non-native faction of the Target System retreat by forcing them below 2.5% and keeping them there. Let's assume you're lucky and there are 6 or less.

2. Then you need to find another system (I'll call this the Expansion System) really close to your Target System that has an anarchy faction (ideally the closest one there is) You need to check that the nearest system to the Expansion System with 6 or fewer factions is the Target System. If there is another system closer that has 6 factions or less, the expansion will go there instead. Again, let's assume that you are lucky and the Expansion system anarchy faction will expand into the Target System.

3. You need to raise the anarchy faction up until it becomes the controlling faction through a conflict with the current controlling faction. You can do this by equalising with the controlling faction, or raising the influence above 60%.

4. Once your anarchy faction is in control, you need to raise it's influence to 70%+ (we usually have to get them above 75%) to trigger an expansion.

5. Wait 5 days pending. Wait 5-7 days of active expansion. Your anarchy faction will appear in the Target System at about 8-10%.

6. Raise the anarchy faction in the target system until it's the controlling faction as in step 3.

Simples. [knocked out]

Thanks for the replies. I will check all the status as soon as I finish work. I actually registered a player group and requested a minor faction in that system about 3 weeks ago. No word from FD except a confirmation application received email so I guess it was probably rejected.

Expansion system is no longer randomly selected. call_me_trent explains the details a bit more, but Expansion is *always* to the nearest available system from the expanding system.

Player Faction insertions don't happen all that frequently, so I wouldn't be too worried about that 3 weeks. I also don't see why they would reject an application, unless you've picked a system where another group already has, a permit system, or one with rare goods. Permit and rare goods systems have been broken before by player factions (i.e. Phekda and Wolf 1301), but FD have at least learned from those mistakes. Even stupid faction names is not a reason to stop player factions (e.g. Space Poultry).

No permit or rare goods system. It's uncontrolled by any power and on the edge of the bubble (last time I checked only 2 ships passed through on the last 24 hour). That's good news it might not have been rejected, what's the average time til it's added to the game? 6 months?
