Was watching some ST Deep Space 9 the other day, the episode when they go back to Kirk's time and enter the Tribble episode.

Does anyone remember the "tribble" incident from the original Elite?

As far as I recall you encountered a dialogue box (rare enough in Elite!) and the option to purchase a "rare and valuable item" for a large number of credits. If you said yes you became the proud owner of a tribble. Lucky, lucky you!

Then, they started breeding, until your cargo space went from 30 tons (wow!) to zero (Oh.).

If I remember, the only solution was to hit an escape capsule and come back to a station, but each time you did that you STILL had one of the critters in the capsule with you!

So be careful what you buy in Elite Dangerous :)

I mentioned Tribbles a couple times in posts on here xD.

I was looking at systems last night and there was one that was "Tiny population but had large hearts that loved furry creatures" It said a bit more but that's from what I can remember and I wish I wrote down the system name as it could be a Tribble place or pets later on in the game development...
