Triple Elite Ship

So what are the chances we will ever see a triple elite only ship? Also what's the odds we could make it a mining fighter with seismic charges and an abrasion blaster. Pull up to a freshly prospected asteroid drop your collector limpets and your mining fighter, place your charges and harvest the insides and then dock back to the ship ready to go scan and find another one..... plz plz plz.... then you can practice your fighter maneuvers in preparation for cqc and quad elite. It combines all the aspects of each elite status, trading= finding the highest paying stations for your goods, exploration=finding the best places to mine, and combat= defending your haul and not hitting asteroids.

Nonexistant. It's also not logical. Shipyards want to sell ships. Why would they limit their sales to a small part of the potential customer base for the mere sake of catering to them?

It's a bit like Ferrari offers a new car. But they sell only to well known mountaineers who also have won a F1 championship and lead a multi-billion-dollar corporation. It might be just me, but i would guess that their sales numbers might not be too high... :D

I can see you unlocking a special engineer which would allow you to create a custom ship that you design by choosing a hull and adjusting sliders though. That would be cool.

To balance it, ships built this way would only have 80% of the performance stats if standard ships, but the sliders would let you sacrifice even more for maybe a max 120% attribute in one or two stats.

For an example - I provide exhibit A - the Cobra MkIV.

Doh, Ninja'd by the third response.

Unfortunately, as has already been said, it's not terribly logical unless the Pilot's Federation were to begin selling its own brand of ships (not likely or reasonable). That said, there are other things in the game (current or yet-to-be) that would mesh with gaining ranks in the Pilot's Federation. ShinDez is a great example of this: you must be Elite in one profession to enter it.

  • System Permits for other systems belonging to the Pilot's Federation, offering unique or additional services as you progress
  • System Permits unique to professions: Combat systems offer a wider selection of weaponry, for example
  • Aesthetics beyond the rank decals (paintjobs, ID variations, Name variations)
  • Access to unique rare commodities (would fit the trade rank line rather well)
  • Access to unique missions that have a short story line, similar to Dark Wheel at ShinDez, that progress as you rank
  • Station hails change as you climb ranks (they should do this for Faction Naval Ranks, too, honestly)
  • Pilot Avatar 'frames' that reflect rank achievements in chat windows
  • Access to unique Megaship Ferry Services
  • Should we ever have spacelegs, there is a litany of aesthetic goods for your ship that could come with rank progression

Beyond general rank progression, I imagine the real reward of Triple Elite would be storyline missions, the decal, and other aesthetic options to display your achievement - since that's the whole point of grinding it out, after all: to be able to say you did it.

My Two Credits.
