Triple your Exploration Credits: Get rank 5 with LYR without trade (easier than you think)

Ok, I'll tell you: 723,824 cr. Took a dive from the bubble to -1000, plotted for Robigo, mix of Fast/Eco, 90 jumps. 5 first discoveries, closest one 430Ly to SOL :)

Ha ha, that was not the answer I was expecting! - the journey back was much more lucrative though no?.
Thing is after a stressful day at work I find it relaxing to grind whilst watching a movie be it normal trading or making my way slowly though a neutron patch, Robigo or combat are a tad too demanding then.
The weekend is for much less sedate actions in game :).

Indeed.

Smart move.
Robigo runs are far from relaxing, though very entertaining, and fills me with great satisfaction (and credits along with it) when the run is complete.
Also the paperwork involved getting Wanted in 10+ systems is unbelievable...:)

I am currently grinding to get my triple payout bonus for exploration credits, by getting rank 5 with LYR via undermining (combat). No need 100m cash up front, and it's not as dangerous as you might think. See this video for how to, including footage of me doing it and plenty of tips.

Wish me luck, 1/3rd of the way to my 350 million credits, haven't even had a close call yet. Just boring!

Dr. Kaii

When I was hunting for bounties I was always pledged to Hudson to get the benefits.
IIRC I made always about 5 millions per hour this way.
After roughly 200 hours of bounty hunting I was billionaire. (and Elite)

In the Neutron Star fields one can make about 3 millions per hour.
Multiplied by 3 you can now easily beat the bounty hunting profession. :)

Best of luck! [up]

I'm in a neutron field right now on my way back from BP--if I focus I can scan 50 neutrons per hour. Counting first discovery bonus, does that only come out to 3 mil per hour? I was under the impression that neutrons themselves were worth about 45,000 credits, so roughly 67,500 per star counting first discovery bonus x 50 per hour=3,375,000 per hour. Am I estimating their value too highly?

@drkaii, thanks for the info in the OP. Also, I had a LOT of fun doing DWE with you lot!

Yes, it is a little bit higher that 3 millions, thus you can attain the 10 millions per hour threshold with LYR. :D

But I can't image to do this for 200 hours or only for 100 hours. [noob]
Exploration yes, but NS farming no!

In addition you have to fly the way to the NS Fields and back only for that purpose and you have to grind up the 10,000 merits which will require 333 ships to interdict.
And I don't like this Interdiction Minigame at all. :p

I only need 30 hours to achieve my goal--1500 neutrons to add to about 5 months of assorted exploration data. I'm not so much doing it for the money, I was well on my way to becoming a billionaire before I left to join the DWE, but I DO want to earn my exploration Elite status upon my return:)

So given that you have some capital why not pledge to LYR and spend 100M fast tracking to level 5 through fortification, sell your data at 3X and also get the 50M weekly payout.
Then week two go pew pew as Drkaii suggests then you only need to murder half as many NPCs and get another 50M wages to cover your first 100m outlay.
After that you may as well stay pledged for a bit until all your merits decay, this is what I may do.

Wait? What? You can give 100MCr to get way more back? I really need to understand PP....

Yeah they call it fast tracking. Normally you have to wait 30 minutes for you 50 allocation, but if you pay you can skip the wait time and deliver 400-500 a time instead.

Something like that anyway. I thought about doing it for my DWE haul but thought I'd still make more at Robigo/trading without risking 3 months of data.

Good luck Dr Kaii.

I went to a compromised nav beacon last night and thought I'd take 4 tonnes of palladium just to spice things up a bit. I had 4-6 scans on dropping in, all decided to attack and I was shields down and running about 30 seconds later lol. That was in my hull tanking A spec FAS.

You pay 100 million to be able to get 10,000 tons of Sirius industrial equipment quickly, so you can do the cargo runs to fortify systems and get your 10,000 merits (1 per ton). Once you get to rank 5 with 10,000 merits, you can sell your data at 300% the profit, and your weekly salary for being rank 5 is now 50 million - so all you need to do to make up the 100 million you invested is to stay at rank 5 for 2 weeks. After that you either stay pledged for more profits or you don't, up to you.

I personally don't see NPC farming as much of a risk, because I've done a lot of bounty hunting and understand how combat works - I wouldn't recommend this to people who don't normally do combat at all. I do kind of dislike the idea of getting a massive bounty / wanted status in some systems using this method, though. I thought about doing the rank 5 LYR thing, but to be honest when I think about it, it's a major grind / hassle, prevents me from selling data when I return, therefore incurring some small risk of losing the data (accidents or even bugs can happen, however rarely; Murphy's law suggests if it only happens once it will happen when you're loaded with months worth of data), and at the end of the day I can make up the difference really quickly doing bubble stuff without risking my data.

So I think I'll just sell it all when I get back and then go on about my bubble business.

With robigo runs you can easily do 30M+ per hour in a small leightweigt T6 with 32T cargo, big shields, no weapons (fit point defense and chaff launcher for running away) and A-decked.
Beats anything for me if it's grinding for credits.

I'm going to try that soon :)

I made 110m from DW. 10m was from spending an entire day farming neutron stars and being unable to resist from scanning neutron stars throughout the journey.

Since coming back I've started to do Robigo runs. I hadn't heard of them before DW. I can make 30m from a single Robigo run. It takes over an hour but my trade rank is currently only broker. Before I started it was Peddler. I just find normal trade really boring. I re-used my Asp from DW, largely kept the same load out, but put in cargo racks, weapons, a chaff launcher and filled up with heat sinks.

Wise choice, the Asp Explorer is imo the best choice for smuggling; it's got a great range, very decent cargo capacity, runs cool and docks at outposts. Since smuggling involves avoiding scans, I would putting a lower class scoop on and favoring an extra fuel tank instead; not having to scoop while smuggling means less time for NPC's to interdict you. I'd basically put a cargo rack in the class 6 slot and probably use one of the c3 slots for a fuel scoop - with an extra tank you probably won't need to scoop more than once somewhere mid-way. You can usually tell by the radar and the NPC direct comms whether there's someone who will try to interdict you or not present, so you can make a decision on where to scoop that way.

Is this still a thing? I worked out I'd need to scan another 3000 systems with a neutron star if I wanted to hit elite rank, if I'm 100% focused on the game I can get 50 systems and hour give or take, but when I'm in that mode I find it no fun at all, I normally get closer to 30 systems an hour playing "normally".

You're saying that I can trade scanning 2000 systems (easily 70-80 hours) for delivering 10'000 cargo ones of cargo (at the cost of 100m credits) -- 25 trips in an anaconda, probably talking 3-5 hours? The 100m will pay itself back in the extra scanning rewards, plus I get a 50m credit bonus!?

This means I can probably return to civilisation after a month rather than 3 (on my first trip out to the core a year ago I made a measly 20m credits, and I didn't even know of the existence of neutron star fields, so I'm making up for it on my trip out to the new settlement!) This all sounds too good to be true, is there a catch?
