Tripple Monitor Set-up for Elite Dangerous

I'm running into some issues I'm hoping the PC elite can assist with. I'm attempting to achieve better performance running my 2 GTX 1080 in SLI with my triple monitor setup. Each monitor is a 2560x1440 with 144hz (165hz overclock) IPS Acer Predator.

Baseline FPS: Low 120s on a single screen on Ultra
Windowed & Borderless: ~15 FPS drop to ~100s on a single screen on Ultra

Does any know why this happens and has a fix for it? My end goal is to run this on all three monitors, however, running the game in Nvidia Surround mode (I believe) disables maximum performance of SLI) and my FPS are above 60 but not by much on the 3 screens.

When I attempted to use custom DSR factors to expand the game onto the 3 screens using a combination of "Custom DSR Tool" and "Borderless gaming" I encounter the FPS drop I've observed in single screen mode, except when three screens are running the drop is massive, down to ~30-40 FPS even when reducing the quality to medium.

All help will be greatly appreciated.

Fullscreen is commonly faster than borderless windowed because full screen apps don't need to use the window compositing features of DWM (which can add significant overhead).

People have been reporting issues with SLI scaling in ED for years and I'm not sure if a second GPU adds any performance at this point. If it does, you should still be able to use it with NVIDIA Surround, though it may be picky about where the displays are plugged. Been a long time since I tried either myself, however.

I had nearly the exact same setup, including the monitors. I always played in Surround mode with the picture spanned across the three monitors. I took one of the 1080's out and found the game to be more stable and also more FPS. Try this. I sold both 1080's recently and got about $550 Australian each for them. I am now running a RTX2080Ti with the same monitors. Hope you find the balance you are looking for.
