Triton Permit??

I have been meaning to post about this since launch but why does Triton within our SOL system require a permit and is one actually able to aquire it in the game yet?

Searched high and low for some insight into this but came up mostly empty handed.

Nope, not available. Probably not in the game.

Edit: some discussion here

Thanks for the reply Stormy, although your answer simply peaks my curiosity even more as why a moon in our own Solar System is locked off limits and will we ever have access to it in the future?

Makes me wonder if this could be a future Thargoid Base for a direct attack on earth.........

It stands to reason that some moons in the birth system of humanity would have supermassive cities on their surface.

One of the comments in the link I said suggested FDev had to hand craft the Sol system obviously so it represents what we know today but in 3303. Its one of the disappointing reasons the Earth texture is lower quality than some of the procedural generated ELWs. The other systems are easy because its all just procedural. Sol takes effort and man hours. :)

I was disappointed to learn Mars was terraformed. I wanted to SRV around on the red planet. So the moon and probably Triton would be highly developed in 3303 and potentially one gigantic city and its probably akin to doing "atmospheric" planets, the amount of work that would be required. My gut feeling is they probably will never get done. I hope I am wrong and they do some great locations. I will however believe it when I see it. :)

Edit: I am sorry to say I have been to Sol once, and that's it. I meant to go back to get photos of Earth when Europe is in daylight but never did.. (yet). The Earth texture is pretty disappointing from a fidelity point of view.

Same. Well, I've been more than once but still only a handful. It is surprisingly anti-climatic after the permit grind. We can't even land on Luna, the one other body humans have actually landed on.

I went to get a picture of the UK from space, couldn't even work out where mainland Europe was let alone the UK.

I managed to work it out, but for some reason every time I tried to go it ended up being Australia on the light side. I gave up on the end! :)

I could not work out what time would be daylight in the UK. :)

Fully agree but why just Triton then and not the moon as well? It is only logical that we would have constructed our first mega city on the closest astronomical body to Earth and thats the moon. ( Spock is near me reading this and shaking his head repeating its not logical Triton before the Moon!)

Totally agree with you regards to earth Stormy. First thing i did was want to take a fly by shot over the The UK but couldnt even recognise it sadly and i know we can be seen from the ISS. That was in itself disappointing for me.

And like you I went to Mars full of adventure as I wanted to land on the red planet and finally see it with my very own eyes...but nope it has been terraformed. I literally shed a real tear here.

Really hoping for some FDEV love for our SOL system and praying like a mad woman that eventually atmospheric landings will finally happen also.

It ought to be when it's daylight IRL, really, given that game time is UTC.

It isn't trust me, there is discussion here about it. It suggests that in 1300 years the time would have shifted, it appears UTC in the future has not been corrected to Earth time. ;)

Sorry to take your thread a bit off-topic Stephanie, although it is interesting. :)

'The' Moon may have an alien artefact/structure, the first found way back hence thats locked....Triton I think is locked for either 'future development' or because an author requested it for a future storyline plot.

If you do fly straight at it and try to land on any locked planet you get a locked message on screen and sometimes it names the group that has applied the lock and its not always the same....still havent found a way forward from there though, probably isn't one at this moment

DB has said in a livestream that some sectors are locked for future development and fdev dont necessarily know what that is yet, its left as places that can develop into anything not necessarily fixed already. Others are due to author requests.

But 2001 in a space Odyssey the final message was "All these worlds are yours except Europa. Attempt no landings there." So let in to Triton.
