Kinectimals Trouble getting back to saved game

Hello - I am posting here as we are having problems getting back to a saved game. Even when the game gave us a choice to start a new game or go to a saved one, when we picked "saved" one, it still took us back to the bonding circle and started over again. If anyone has any advice for us, that would be great! Thanks.

I just ran into this problem too...

Love the game. My 4 and 3 year old love the game, but they also both just lost their "saved games". We have one xbl gold account (mine) which as of this post is still working fine. I have all 30 gold medals, no downloadable or scanned extras. All three of the other saved games reverted back to the opening cut scenes: two are xbl silver accounts and the 3rd is a new profile created after Christmas and has not been signed up for use online (I assume it is technically considered silver?). Anyways...Regardless of how they sign in (me first or them directly) their saved games are lost.

NONE of them had selected "start new game", they always have chosen the pawprints to continue.

The only thing out of the ordinary was, this afternoon, the Kinect did not recognize my 3 year old and she played as a Guest (which of course started a new game). Since then, we can not get their games back. Rebooted, switched games, and all the tricks [short of blowing on the disk like back in the NES days:)].

Any help out their?

Each profile on your Xbox only has one save game attached to it, if they were signed into the profile and started a new game then it will overwrite that save game, although there should have been a warning on screen if this was the case. I can't think of any other way the saves would be reset except by deleting them from the memory management screen, this is buried in the Xbox dashboard, so should be difficult to do accidently.

I'll do some investigation and see if I can come up with any other possibilities.

Michael,
thanks for the response. And I get that part, they have been playing it for weeks, resuming their individual saved games as they go along. So, I know 'that' is not the issue. The issue is that their saved games vanished and they had to start from scratch (no pun intended).

Hi,

do they play together on the same game? Or have they done? We're trying to think of ways the identity system could become confused and overwritten the save, we think it's unlikely but we're checking everything. For example if they started playing as a guest and the system then recognised them and started a new game. However this should have triggered a warning that the save would be overwritten.

Do they have their own profiles with biometric identitites setup?

Some other possibilities:

The saves are corrupt, again seems unlikely for this to happen on 2 different profiles. You should also have got an error message saying there was a problem with the save.

Do you have more than one memory location for the save, for example a memory card and a hard drive?

Do the profiles have other saves (from different games) that you can check?

Since this problem occured have they started a new game? If not can you look in the memory management screen in the dashboard and see if a save in those profiles are listed?

We all use the same disc, but all four of us have our own profile and seperate saved games.

Yes

No, just the hard drive that came with the Xbox 360 Elite (12 months old)

Two of the profiles were created in order to play with the Kinect. I don't think any of our other Kinect games require saved profiles (Joy Ride, Adventure), but I will check.

Since this problem occured have they started a new game?
Yes and no. They haven't chosen to start a new game, but when they chose "continue" a new game started (i.e. they arrived on teh island and had to go through the introduction stuff).

We've not had any joy recreating this except where we deliberatly remove a save or overwrite it. Have you experienced any further incidences of this?

Michael

Our 4 year old plays it the most and is working through earning everything again. My saved game is complete and all is still there. Oddly enough, our 3 year old's saved game seems to have come back.

I was testing to see if it would loose any new progress so i had teh 4 year old play and earn a medal and then save the game. My 3 year old, on the other hand, never did anything much after her game was "lost". So, when she went to really play for teh 1st time since losing the saved game it was back. Makes me wish I hadn't encouraged my 4 year old to keep playing.

You know, it may be a Microsoft problem. I had a similir issue yesterday playing Joy Ride. When I started the game it "recognized me" and had my gamertag logged in, but the avatar was completely wrong (wrong gender and everything) and the car was back to the default start car. It knew who I was and was tracking me, but had reset me to a default avatar and car. So I signed out, left the room, and when I cam back in it recognized me again and had the correct avatar and car displayed.

Sounds to me like a comporable bug to what we experienced with your game, which makes me wonder if it is a bug on Microsoft's end. Just a theory.

It's possible, the biometric identity stuff is pretty good, but if it got confused it could cause this problem.

Michael

That's the odd thing. It accurately recongnizes us (my girls with the Kinectimals 'glitch' & me with the Joy Ride 'glitch'), but then failed to properly load the profile/saved game. It seems, as long as the correct information isn't written over then it is only temporary, but in my 4 year old's case once it is written over then it is gone.

I stopped using the face-recognition - as it seems a bit unreliable.

I agree about joyride (lots of recognition problems) - but Kinectimals has been pretty acurate.
