TrueEyes Space Journal...Days 4-6

So after a few more mining trips I decided that I had my fill of dodging asteroids and chatting with the rare but equally paranoid purveyors of minerals. As I flew back to Cleve Hub I pondered what other roads to fortune I might travel down. Never really caring for dog fights and capitol ship assaults adding to the fact that my ship was woefully inadequate for such endeavors I decided that combat was a no win for me. Trade Routes were a promising thought but again limited by the capacity of my sidewinders low output FSD. Eventually pulling in to dock at the hub my mind was still racing for an answer to what I could do to carve my name on to this little section of our grand galaxy. Entering the station and pulling the jobs list from the bulletin board I had found my answer, illicit cargo needed in Kini system!

As I mentioned earlier, my ship was a loaner from a friend and could barely keep up with the rotation of a space platform. My bank account though still small should be able to afford a bit of an upgrade so to the shipyard I went in search of brighter pastures. The shipmonger was relentless in his assault, telling me of the benefits and bonuses of each of his wares but it was the Cobra MK III that caught my eyes. She was fast, had a good cargo hold with room for upgrades, and her FSD was still not what I hoped for but far better than my friends Sidewinder. After a bit more haggling with the short pudgy man we locked hands at 380,000, both of us feeling we got the better of the other.

It was now time to fit my new bird with some extra cargo space and out of sheer lazyness a docking computer. During the upgrades I made sure to contact my friend and let him know his ship was stored at Cleve hub and that I would begin a new career of dodging the police with less than benevolent cargo. He pointed out that I should probably equip a few heat sinks and a new low heat signature power plant to which I cringed thinking of the extra toll on my rapidly evaporating bank account. I thanked him for the advice and use of his ship and returned to the outfitter. Relaying my new instructions they began work while at the same time my cargo for Kini was transported over.

Hours later the ship was prepared and ready for her maiden voyage. I cant explain the sense of dread coming out of a space station straight into a group of circling police who may or may not scan you but it was growing minute by minute as I plotted my trajectory on paper, a custom that had become a habit as I had gotten older. After finishing my crude drawing I sipped a bit of whiskey from my trusty flask and headed to the hangar to acquaint myself with my new beauty. The controls while foreign at first glance required only minimal changes on my part and after a quick flight check we were undocking and flying to better futures.

About thirty seconds out of the shoot and I had my first system fine. I could vaguely see a smile on the cops face as he assessed the fine and moved on to others waiting to be money gauged by the system authorities. Shaking my head at my misfortune I aligned for my jump to Kini and readied my heat sinks for my next encounter with the systems "finest".

I arrived after a short supercruise to my destined space station and I cant for the life of me remember a thing about it..name, shape, size...my senses were so focused on everything around me that what was in front of me took a backseat. I was fortuitous though because the trek in to dock was uneventful. A dodgy looking woman met me in the hangar to retrieve the cargo and transfer the funds to which I offered my thanks. She retreated without a word after transferring the funds while I gloated at my success. Fifty thousand richer..minus my small fine back in the Eravate system. It was thus that I began the next few days of cat and mouse with the police of varying systems, only being crippled once in multitudes of illegal forays.

After securing quite a large bankroll and upgrading my ship multiple times I began to wonder.....a smuggler needs a name out here, a name that sticks in the minds of any would be rookie cop who might get a little overzealous with their interdiction efforts.....Han S...neh...perhaps the universe will think of its own for me in the coming months....
