Powerplay Trying to get into PP....at 30 per kill 10,000 merits seems insane!

So I am aligned with Hudson hunting Kumo Crew ships in a Archon systems. Is the only place they exist in quantity in supercruise? Which means I have to interdict them and then kill them? I am hoping that I am missing something. I would need to play about 5 hours per day for a week and do nothing but interdict Kumo crew ships to have a shot at 10K merits. Then....I would have to do that each week to maintain that?

Not trying to bash PP, just trying to make sure I understand it before I spend more time with it....

I can't give specifics for Hudson but can confirm 10k merits in a week constitutes a second job regardless.

Yes, it is a big target and will consume all your game time - and don't you EVER slow down, or you'll get hit in the face with the Merit Decay frying pan that halves your Merits each and every weekly cycle!

yep ... if you want to get 50mill each week 'for free' and a few better perks.

note you don't have to get there in one week (although the more it takes you, the more decay will hurt you). also, decay is progressive but you don't have to redo all full 10k merits each week, only about 5k a week (if you did it in one go) for 4 weeks, then slightly more but it stabilizes if you don't miss out any week.

credit-wise i don't think it's worth it, it's an inexcusable grind and attempt to force players into play (very common these days in games) but that depends on the context, your goals and how you play. i did part of my fortune that way long ago (those were different times, though) and even did enjoy it, now i don't worry about credits at all anymore and can allow myself whatever i want.

10000 merits is for the highest weekly rating, like getting into the top 10% of commanders in a Community Goal, the cr rewards are probably not worth the time.
There is nothing wrong with getting to a lower weekly rating.

Where are you hunting, and is it in Open?

OP, you could also elect to do merit hauling instead. It's much easier if you already have one of the big 3 ships and a spare 75 mil to make the two week push and maintain from rank4 to 5 with fasttrack. Then you could maintain it in 2 to 5 hours per week paid by the 50 mil salary. Rank 4 can also be maintained with two or three big merit haul trips per week paid by the 5mil salary.

I went ahead and Kumo Crew farmed and hit the 1500 merit mark. If I understand it right next week I only have to hit 750 merits to maintain the 5 mill mark right? After that hit 750 per week to maintain it from week 3 on out?
