Trying to keep better track of systems, stations, and what they sell/buy/make etc

I was wondering if anyone knows of a program that already does this automatically as you travel in game and dock and browse stations?
I don't want a program that has a list of all systems or anything but just information about systems that I have visited and ones that are part of a faction will BILLIONS of people in them.

If there is not one like this then I will likely create one for myself.

This is also to ask if this program would be considered a hack since it will need to pull data from memory or hook into the game in some way to gather the data. I see no point in manually creating a list like this since the information is already given to me.

I honestly don't understand why there is not an in game setup for browsing this information already since to me that would be the base database for a space sim, but eh whatever I am not developing the game I just play it lol

good news is that the economic situation in this game is fluid, if u take a load to a sttaion for one good the next time the profit margin will be less, unless theres a boom then prices go up. Profits vary and youre actions have a impact on the market, so the prices volumes and even what is sold and what is illegal can change based on what faction controls the system, the type of economy, population etc, the trading tools give a basic idea of what u can buy and sell beyond that though the game is moving quickly where u have to think

Doing missions to supply does lead to bigger profit margins. Thats about all i can say theres no static markets so any trading tools are almost out of date.

I use a technology known as "paper and pencil".
Admittedly it is not a new technology, but it doesn't require batteries or charging, doesn't have a switch to turn it off and on, and it works with any computer.

I wrote down the names of every star system visited, trades made and analyses of faster routes, annotated complete with sketches.

The only con is when your wife thinks it is rubbish and puts it in the bin.

Months of notes. Months. Gone.
*sigh*

But in today's modern age there should be no need to use a pen & paper!

My kids think I'm mad when I 'jot' things down instead of using my smartphone/laptop............it's where we're heading & I, for one, embrace all this new 'modern' stuff :)

"theres no static markets so any trading tools are almost out of date" !?

ok a few things....

  1. Do you realize that is how the market in the real world works? It is not static ether its just more saturated with goods.
  2. If you go into a Wal-Mart and look for an item that you want it might not be at that Wal-Mart or ANY Wal-Mart. That is why they have an online site to allow you to check if what you are looking for is at the store.
  3. Also, I am not wanting a trading tool I am wanting a database of where I have been and what they were selling when I was there.
  4. Lastly, I have not read any storyline information on this game so maybe they can travel faster then the speed of light in ships but can not send electronic messages from system to system. But I can go into the galaxy map and pull up system information for a few systems. THAT is what I was wondering about, why is THAT information not set in a database we can look through with out clicking on each system. There are 400 Billion systems, you should be able to search using your onboard computer for specific information. That is what I figured would be in game already (basically a better UI) but as I said I didn't develop it so I cant say why they choose not to put that in. (maybe they have lazy programmers lol)

Dogeh

Looks like you could have used an electronic database vs a pen and paper one ;)

Hilight
CMDR"S Log might help you. Check it out---

Thanks that seems close to what I am looking for but with the added feature of not having to retype information that is already there.

In a world where we are surrounded by electronics (my home included), it is nice to use ancient skills.

Anyway, the trade data is out of date, right?
So my old trade route of 1800cr/t of Palladium one way and 1100cr/t of Consumer Technology the other way, is now long defunct.

I found a sheet of paper, this morning, with my first forays in LHS 3447.

It was pitiable.

You can filter the Galactic Map to show economy types. If you click on a commodity in the marketplace it will show which economies tend to buy said item. While its not infallible its better than doing random searches.
