I do quite lot of sim racing and have a seated rig with a wheel, in front of it is an old 26" LCDtv that still works but only via VGA DSUB connector (the only HDMI connector blew years ago) but DVI- VGA cable worked fine and I simmed a lot. On my desk next to my rig is a normal 26" monitor with DVI and HDMI for all my none driving sim gaming.
I recently got a new PC, no DVI output so old cables bunk. Luckily plenty of spare HDMI cable for main display. I bought a HDMI - VGA.....but when I tried to connect I realised I only had 1 HDMI out (being used for desktop monitor). So I just bought a DP-HDMI for main display...it arived yesterday, I just plugged it in....booted PC and I only get a black screen and a mouse pointer, can't use Win 10 at all.
If I unplug the HDMI-VGA cable, WIN10 boots up on desktop monitor fine. So far all the HD DP/HDMI malarky does not impress me much, I never had this amount of hassle with DVI.
Anyone got any advice? Looking online on the subject always seems to start with faffing with Windows...hard to do when all I see is black!!
