Trying to supercruise but hyperjumps

Sometimes when I press J the game thinks I want to hyperjump, when I really just want to supercruise. I don't know what it is that does this, but perhaps I am in some kind of 'hyperjump' mode? How do I get out of that so I can ust supercruise by pressing J?

Isn't 'C' the default key for Frameshift?

Maybe C is the default for some people, but for me it is J. Is frameshift drive both supercruise and hyperjump? How can I make sure I supercruise if the ship for some reason is in 'hyperjump' mode?

It used to be until the standard beta. Seems wrong to me but they have combined the SC/HS functions to the J button. So if you have a target system locked you will hyperspace to it, if not, you will enter SC. There's been quite a few threads on this in the Beta forum.

Make sure you haven't told the nav-comp to lock on to a star system. It will just put you in cruise mode then.

I'm a mouse and keyboard player and I've found it easier to just remap the J key for the C key. It's a lot easier to hit the C when making small path corrections when exiting Supercruise
