Trying to understand pre-engineered suit/ground weapon mechanics

So I'm seeing some posts which discuss that I can pick up pre-engineered suits/weapons, but where from? I check all sorts of stations. I check orbital and ground stations and everything is G1, like EVERYTHING.

Is there a cycle that these items may reappear available to buy? Does it help to be in Open Play/Solo Play/Private Session?

I'm on PC and around the Colonia region. Lots of obscure stations, but none seem to stock the good stuff. Can anyone help?

Its random.. there is a forum post if u look. That's updated by the minute... detailing stuff found and where and when.
That aside I suggest outposts and planetary ports especially military ones. And starbases way way out

As suggested, visit the thread posted above.
Just for your information, the pre-engineered items tend to appear randomly every Thursday morning (UK time) after the weekly server maintenance.
There will only ever be a limited number of items (suits and weapons), if any at all, at each Pioneer Supplies, with random grades of Engineering and random mods on them.
They are unique, so it's a first come first served basis (and that's why the awesome thread above exists). Once an item is sold, it's gone. They are shared through Open/PG/Solo.

Good luck finding a missile launcher with noise suppression!

Just keep flying and landing at stations...most places I visit have at least one upgraded suit or weapon.

If you are lucky you can find an upgraded suit / weapon with a mod attached...it's not that rare tbh, just keep looking and check out the thread

In My Experience:

In Colonia, when compared to the bubble, there are not very many stations with Pioneer Supplies. On Thursdays, after the weekly 'tick', there are many CMDRs in Colonia going through all of the stations looking for newly spawned pre-upgraded gear.

If you are not early to that party, you will not find much, if anything at all...

There is much, MUCH better hunting for these items in the bubble...

Check every station in every system you fly into.

Planetary based stations are a better place to look since fewer commanders go to them. The farther out a space station or outpost is the fewer commanders go to them. Generally new items are added on Thursday around the time FD does the weekly maintenance.

The small number of stations and high player numbers in Colonia will sweep up most stuff early on Thursday.
The same seems to be generally true in the core systems of the Bubble.

I did once find a G3 Maverick with expanded backpack on a Wednesday evening (in the bubble)..

I'd call that very lucky though, but back then I also used to check every time I docked somewhere that had a Pioneer Supplies. Nowadays I mostly don't check as I have several fully modified G5 suits of various flavours.

And outposts are favored by the small/medium pad restriction as they will get fewer CMDRs flying to them.

Not sure how FC's do now that they can have a Pioneer stores

I've got G3 everything, lucky I guess, Artemis with enhanced jump, very nice. You fly into a system for any reason, you visit every station, some I have from outposts, some from ground stations, some from orbitals, there's no telling where they will turn up!

Also. not sure if its still working the same as i haven't been as invested in gear hunting for a bit, but my observation was that the G2/G3 gear spawn seemed to be system based as opposed to strictly station based.

That is, if there's stuff at one station/outpost in a system, you were more likely to find other stuff at other sites in the same system.

G3 Artemis with battery capacity and reduced tool consumption, and the same on a Maverick seems to cover most situations.
For stealth missions I have G3 Mavericks with night vision and Quieter Footsteps.
Sidearm of choice is a G3 tormentor with faster handling and stability.
For my explorer I want to get something with a scope in lieu of binoculars...

As has been said, the stock or pre-engineered weapons refreshes on a Thursday after the weekly tick. That being said, you would be surprised at the amount of good gear that can be found in the twelve hours before the weekly tick. Less travelled areas of the bubble are the best places to find stuff, unless you are first to visit. If you are on the fringes of the bubble, pick half a dozen systems there or around your base and APEX between them to check at the stores. After that, whenever visiting systems, check the stations as you are there anyway.

I bought a new CMDR in the steam summer sale, and within a week had a G2 Maverick + night vision, a G2 C-44 with noise suppression and a G3 Tormentor (still looking for one with a good mod). Having gone through the engineering unlocks already with previous CMDRs, I am not going to go through it again with this new one, and will stick to gear with a mod I want and carry on from there. Essentially I am sticking to the Maverick suit, a Tormentor and a C-44 to play with, as you can play the game without going down the engineering route, although I am going to upgrade to G5 eventually via the upgrading facility offered by the Pioneer Supplies.

I was weak, and on a Tuesday/Wednesday found a G2 Executioner + scope, so bought that as a third weapon. I like scopes!

Those in Colonia are at a disadvantage regarding the availability of pre-engineered gear, but the engineer unlocks there are so easy compared to the bubble it is a doddle to engineer gear.

You were saying?

Sorry for lower station opportunities in Colonia.

Searching for suits and weapons has become a mini-game I play between actually doing missions and slowly moving toward mastering them. I also post on the caring sharing thread a lot to help others. I find the bigger the population the more stations available. No other stats seem to make any difference. E.G. an Independent Agriculture Anarchy system with 8.4 billion having 6 orbiting and 6 ground stations all close together. With a few exceptions the ground stations have higher rated items with mods versus the orbiting ones.

I use a cool running 60LY jump range Asp Explorer with fuel scoop and a Maverick with increased sprint duration to get anywhere in the bubble fast when the sharing caring thread lists an item...or did. Now I just mostly help others. With 14 suits and 33 weapons I try them out mostly just to see how they work then just pick the right suit/weapon combo for the mission. I also find what works best for me on that day when I finally build my on G5 level gear thus not wasting a mod slot. Once added it cannot be removed. Here's my current goto list.

Maybe someday we could trade with each other at a fleet carrier Pioneer supplies. Then a fleet carrier could transport them to Colonia for sale or trade...are you listening Frontier?
