Turn community goals over to squadrons.

I would love to see squadrons dictating community goals instead of FDev, or at least being able to add local community goals that are faction oriented. Here are some ideas about how this could work:

- Squadron leaders propose goals from a nested drop-down. This could be something like "Destroy x type ships in y System" or just raising influence for a faction, or other initiatives.

- Commanders opt in to the goals they personally want to work towards, this would allow the game to track their actions relative to the goal, and allow for members of other squadronsfactions who support the goal to take part.

- Most goals would be local, but if enough individual CMDRs opt in, then it could become a global community goal that shows everywhere.

There's kind of a lot of possible good and bad to this idea, I'm curious what you CMDRs think.
 
Well commanders could submit community goals under the old system anyway.

As a player uninterested in squadrons this sounds like a bad idea especially if it means I am only going to hear about some of the community goals if they get big enough.
 
Squads can have their own goals. Squads can ally with one another and do their own squad community goal minus the Cr payouts. There's no reason to tie everyone's CG to squad whims.

Thanks for the reply, I haven't been around for tremendously long and didn't realize this was a thing. I'd still like to see an opt in feature which would allow a goal more visibility once it has numerous CMDRs on board.

I was thinking it could enhance Powerplay to do it that way. Nothing would ultimately be LOST, with potential for some game play GAINS.

CGs are how FDev grows the galaxy, in a way. Why turn anything like that over to squadrons who have small political agendas?

Because it would make the whole Galaxy (bubble), Powerplay and Community Goals more dynamic, more interesting and realistic, as well as give it the depth it's currently lacking.
