Turn CQC into a in (main) game gameshow

Imagine if every Friday night there was a auto CG generated for pilots to test their metal in the CQC arena somewhere in the galaxy.

This event was broadcast live over YouTube and was also streamed in game for those who wanted to see it in their cockpit. Events could last for an hour or longer depending on the number of participants. Prizes could be dependent on participants and would just require a section of space for the arenas.

For fun factor a gameshow host could also be added with phrases like "That's gotta hurt", and things like "I bet they didn't see that coming" etc.

Might draw more people into it and bring something off the wall to ED.

Nice idea.

Sadly any CQC changes are not on the list for the Beyond series of updates. Personally I think that's a shame although I'm sure Frontier have reasons for not revisiting it at the moment, or maybe ever!? (I hope not!) On the face of it making it accessible from the main games menu seems an obvious and easy thing to do, but maybe that's not the case.

That's a decent suggestion, but it's been suggested before, along with a raft of other suggestions, such as AI bots, 'try your build' where you can try one of your ship's from the main game against a number of other players/bots, with no insurance bills, allow money earned to transfer to the main game, main-game custom modules as ranking/tier rewards, and many others.

Of all of these the most obvious improvement seems to me the addition of AI cintrolled ships, but I've no doubt that that's a heap of effort for very possibly zero reward.

My personal feeling is that FDev should leave CQC alone, and devote their time and effort to improving the core gameplay experience for all, which thankfully they seem to be doing. CQC was a good idea on paper, but the player response has not supported it, and imho there's no benefit to be had in spending more time and money on it.
