Turn off stereoscopic 3D

If you are getting issues where the Rift starts jumping and goes black and cannot be resolved without a restart, check you haven't got stereoscopic 3D enabled in the NVCP

I get this exact same thing happening, but I have an AMD card and Catalyst doesn't include any options related to stereoscopic effects :(

Check out the Screen Jumping thread for more options. Also try disabling any overclocking, looking at your PC's temperatures, and try setting your main monitor's refresh rate to 75hz

I don't think this is the same issue as the other 'screen jumping' thread. The "screen goes black and cannot be fixed without a restart" is an issue I'm also having. The game keeps going and the music keeps going, but the game acts like it's alt-tabbing over and over.

Yeah that's exactly what's happening to me. And you're right, this was just a red herring. It seems to resolve itself after a while of leaving it on not playing but I think it's a cable or device issue

I tried downgrading my display drivers before and gone back to Oculus runtime 0.5.1, but it didn't work. I checked and did not have the 3d Vision driver installed, at all. Now I've performed a clean reinstall of the newest display driver and installed the 3d Vision driver and ensured Stereoscopic 3d is off. We'll see how this goes after I get back from work tonight.
