Turning down brightness of ships leaving station in SC.

Is there any way from the graphics settings to turn down the brightness of the ships you see in SC as they leave the station you are approaching?

From around 100Ls right down to 30Ls, all I can see is a massive white blob that even obliterates the planet. As I get closer, these bright trails get smaller until they are mere specks. Well, if they are that small when I get close, they would not be so bright as to wipe out my view for a radius of twice the orbit path of the station from 100Ls away.

It happens mostly when you approach a station near a RES site. Adams Orbital At Beta-1 Tucanae is the most recent one I visited to do a refit and is typical of the phenomena. As you approach from more than 100Ls away a steady stream of ships heading for the RES site appears from the station. By the time you hit around 100Ls from Adams Orbital, it's just a single ball of bright light that envelops the entire planet and station orbit path. I'll grab a screenie when I'm next online.

Edit: OK found a bit of time. This was just 1 ship leaving but I often see 4 or 5 at the same time which blots the view completely. Even at 84Ls I could see the light from this ship easily. It doesn't seem to decrease in size over distance, the light source remains the same size regardless of distance.

Nobody?

Maybe this should be considered a bug since the size of the white light doesn't seem to decrease over distance like the rest of the visuals do.
