Newcomer / Intro Turning off Flight Assist and Rotational Correction in Options

I notice that every time I start the game (and apparently also after the rebuy screen) , I have to turn off Flight Assist and Rotational Correction in order to not use them.
Is there a way to make sure they stay off until I turn them back on manually?

Not using ingame tools, no.

Someone wrote a script once that scanned the journal file and switched flight assist on or off automatically depending on certain conditions such as whether the landing gear was deployed. That might do what you want.

You can map toggling those to keys you don't otherwise use and add them to a single VoiceAttack command, triggered by speech and/or single key/button. I manually switch them off in the right panel as part of a manual preflight checklist.

Sadly that is something I (and others) have suggested several times.
For some reason the F/A switch for the SRV can be set to either state as "default" in the options, but ship's assists are always default On, which is more than a little frustrating when you are an F/A off pilot.
But it's better than it used to be, previously the F/A turned back on every time you dropped from SC. Now THAT was annoying. At least now the game remembers my setting for the duration of the gaming session.
Small victories, I guess.
