Turret Fire on trigger pull

Finally purchased some upgrades for my clipper and a couple of class 3 turrets sounded great.
Boy she's a bit of a mover and shaker after my asp and type 7!!!!

Am I missing something or is there no way to get those bad boys to ONLY FIRE on the pull of the trigger?

Yes the silly buggers fired on the police as I was flipping through the targets on my scope.
No I didn't get my bank balance trounced as I immediately snuck to a station :D

The only work around would be to have them in a particular group and EXPECT them to auto fire when you change to that group. You'll need to turn the group off when flipping through targets however....???:S

EDIT: That said, the class 3 gimballed beams are rather good!!!!

In the right hand panel you can set the turret to fire forward and they will act as normal weapons, apart from that they are automated.
 
My recommendation to FD is only have the weapon fire if it's part of the active firegroup.

Would certainly save a lot of trouble. The turrets also default to fire at will when entering zones last time I checked. You zone in and they go nuts.

I got macro's set up via voice attack. "Ready turrets" will move the right panel to the correct page and set the highlight on turret settings then closes the screen leaving me set to forward fire. This allows me to initiate combat by firing Han Solo style (shooting first) the command "turrets engage" for to the system panel and changes to target only then closes. "Turrets dissengage" returns to locked forward position, useful if chaffs dropped or you need some precision. Personally I don't use fire at will mode, for one, I like will, splendid bloke, for another, to easy to get you in trouble. Hope this helps

BUT. Forward fire. Are these now FIXED, or work like the turret but only.........forwards? Shame I can't have my trigger as the fire.

But hey, lovin the gimballed beams anyway!
 
I would be content with a setting to have them only fire on... you know... hostile targets... Even pirates can use turrets if that were the case and they had a single non-turreted weapon, because as soon as you hit someone, they go hostile no matter what. (See friendly fire threads.)
 
One you set then to forward fire they become in essence fixed weapons and do require a set button in a fire group to work.

Fire at will should, unless I'm mistaken, only shoot hostile targets. I don't like that mode as I'm concerned about stay fire with noon hoodies around. When a authority ship tries to get in between me and what my turret is trying to perforate, I can twist my ship breaking line of sight and avoidd accidents more often then not
