Turret weapon mode

Hi,

I have gimballed lasers and multicannons on my Aconda but the function setting will only set to forward fire!

Why is that as I thought you could have other modes?

All the other options will change as required accept that one...:S

Found your problem.

Gimballed weapons and Turret weapons ARE NOT THE SAME THING. Gimballed weapons are effectively a forward cone while Turret Weapons are full 180 coverage of their zone.

Turret weapons are the only ones that can change their modes between Targeted, Hostile, and Forward. This versatility is justified by being the most expensive option also doing the least amount of damage.

You have got to have Turrets on your Anaconda. I don't care if they are functionally worse.
They just look so good. Overcharged, thermal vent C3 Beams that can fire indefinitely.
I even always put a Point defense on the top deck just to watch the green fireworks.

Exception to this rule is fighting Thargoids - all fixed all the time.

Turrets

hI,

Thanks very much for the clarification.

Yes, I'll have to see about getting some engineered turrets.:D

The Python and the Anaconda are the ships I'd take into battle that are the most turret friendly. I'm terrible at combat, so the versatility of turrets is really necessary to bail me out of some situations, especially with unmaneuverable ships.

I have a build right now on my Python where I've loaded all the dorsal hardpoints with a mix of turreted beam lasers and turreted Cannons. Beam lasers are the best thing I know for stripping shields, and Cannons are the best thing I know for penetrating armor, so it's a strong combination. It's really useful for clearing up the riff raff ships that think they can beat me by being faster.

Currently I have another beam laser in the nose gun slot for the ships I can turn on, I'm toying with the idea of replacing that with a missile rack, haven't decided yet. Really don't know how missiles work yet, but if I can get some guided missiles to really pound down those ships that try to get behind me, I might not even have to worry about turning on a ship at all, at least until I can get G5 clean which I have not yet unlocked (if you're using beam lasers on a Python, you'll want G5 clean over G5 dirty :p).
