The issue was the terrible nature of lasers.

If you watch the video, Truesilver Reverski'ed the entire time with the Vette following at 1.5-2km. So the lasers were doing anything from 30-60% less damage than the outfit screen says they are doing. Due to damage fall off.

That Vette was a total noob and was running beams, which would have to have been efficient to sustain that level of fire.

Essentially that Vette was weak as a kitten the whole fight.

The real question...what was on the other two hardpoints?

Hi StiTch, the nascelles had 2 x gimballed HYS long range cannons. Yes I did need to use them in some other fights...

What shield set up do you have?, literally did nothing to them.

Toasted cheese with cheese on the side, served with a helping of melted cheese, on a bed of cheese.

11.3k Mj absolute maxed Beta 3.3 reinforced prismatic with 8 x HD boosters 4thewin.

If you look closely near the very end of the vid there is a slight hint of movement of the first ring of shield. This was actually caused by me ramming my opponent twice while he rebooted (edited out to fit song) to test ram damage. In other words, for the reasons that Powerderpanic and Rubbernuke have already given, my opponent's weapon set actually caused no visible damage at all (even though the one weakness of the setup is lack of thermal resists - but who needs 'em?)
 
His shields must have really been either under-engineered or his pip management was not on point to go down so (relatively) quickly.
 
And that's why lasers need rebalancing. Between the poor DPE, the damage fall off, the power requirements to run them, and the thermal output, it is basically suicide to use them in big ship pvp. But this corvette was a total blueberry, entertaining though.

It would be surprising if he was under-engineered because he was interdicting in Wyrd in Beta 3.3, by which stage of course it was free upgrades for all at the Dweller.

Either way, I think perhaps the main issue was that even if some/all of the turrets were efficient, the sheer stack of beams caused pips to be misplaced into Weps. Running 6 boosters (he had 2 sinks) on a Corvette just didn't leave enough Mj in those circumstances.
 
My favorite part was how he was able to leverage his superior agility to overcome your lightning reversky and completely outmaneuver you enough to dodge 0% of your rail shots. Followed closely by the excellent strategic placement of the power plant so that your penetrator rails pierced through 80 meters of military grade hull and disabled his ship 19 seconds after his shields dropped. His 1 Billion CR ship almost lasted a full 3 minutes against the Cutter. That's impressive!

That's one thing I really love about the Cobra mk3 - it's one of the few ships where aiming at the PP doesn't automatically grant your slugs a free ride through every other critical module aboard the ship...
