Turreted mining laser??

I noticed turreted mining lasers for sale. What are they used for? Afaik you can't target rocks directly.

I had totally forgotten how boring mining was. I just unlocked Selene on my alt account so hopefully I'll never mine again.

That depends if you want to unlock Bill Turner. He wants 50 tonnes of Bromellite so that's a few hours Ice mining unless you get really lucky ( though you can gather it al through mission rewards in theory). Top tips for unlocking him, he is located in Alioth which is permit locked so you need to get allied with the Alioth Independents first and also you need to get friendly with the Alliance before it's even worth starting to collect it. If you do choose to mine it , the outer edge of a pristine ice ring is a good place to look.

Luckily he has nothing I want, I never use PAs as I prefer Cannons over them.

Anyway mining is boring but it pays well and it can be fun with a friend that's why turreted mining lasers

And here I thought the mining turrets were for the guys unable to hit something as small as an Asteroid with fixed beams.

Oh yeah, GREAT for multi-crew mining. You can zap asteroids all day, then disconnect on one measly jump to sell the materials, and get nothing.

It is so you can use multi crew and be bored together.

I didn't know those turrets can't be used in solo. Seems strange as it could provide a semi-automated way of splitting the roids, so you can concentrate on limpets and refinery actions. Knowing me, I would have probably equip them and spent 30mins in a roid field trying to figure out why they don't work lol!

Is there any warning or message on the module description to let players know this is only Multicrew module? I don't recall seeing one.

Its not multicrew only. You can set them to forward fire. So if you want to solo sometimes and multicrew other times, you can fit the turret versions regardless and not have to swap them out.
