Turreted Weapons simply ignore Firegroups ?

Am I too stupid or is this a known issue ?
I made an extra Group for the turreted
machine gun to prevent it from hitting sec.

two fights, two times wanted due to the turret always firing.
Do I really have to turn of the power to the turrent to prevent this
or is there a tweak ?

Set the turret mode to Target Only or Forward Fire in the Functions tab

It still fires even when its not active on the fire group. If it's set to Target only, it seems to fire all the time. Forward only locks it forward and stops the shooting, but its awkward to switch between them.

It would be nice if it only fired when it was on an active firegroup.

Agreed. I have seen this with a turreted cannon. I had one fire group with it on, and another without it, so I could "switch it off" when wanted, as the wretched thing was not very good, and the ammunition was expensive. And it still kept firing. I no longer have it fitted on my ship, which at least stopped it from firing when I didn't want it to.
 
Not a long term solution but can't you turn off the turrets.

Not having turrets on an active firegroup does mean you can have them on full auto and still have primary and secondary weapons.

Have to agree that the settings are currently a tad basic, awkward to use and lack either defaulting to Forward fire rather than Fire at will or even better they either stay as the last setting you used for them or defaulted to Forward Fire (which is the safest option).
