Turreted won't attack sub targets?

I noticed this last night while trying to take down an Anaconda by killing its power supply. None of my turreted weapons would attack while I had the power supply targeted. Once I re-targeted the ship as whole, they would fire again.

Intended? Or is it a bug? Not sure if it affects other ships, I'm pretty sure I had another targets sub-system targeted and they fired.

I noticed this too but would guess it's intended. If they did you could just go afk in a fight and let the turrets do the work. :)

Mine seem to be pretty accurate. At least when I'm not beyond about 1.5 km.

I went back to trading but kept 2 Turreted Pulse Lasers on my medium hardpoints. They still kill mostly everything if I get interdicted.
Had a few Sidewinders try to pirate me. In a Python. The AI isn't so intelligent.

I don't entirely understand why turrets, cost more, do less and require more power than gimballed or fixed, I mean individually these don't sound too bad, but all together I feel like its a deliberate don't use turrets please. Just to add, especially as i can spend 5.5mil on thrusters for an asp, yet my entire weapon loadout only cost 100k... I mean can't we buy more expensive weapons? Even all railguns would only stretch to 3 mil I think.
