Turrets working now?

Yes, except class 2 pulse turrets. Rest seems to be fine. Here is the pulse bug:

They dont track the targets. They do fire, when the target is in the middle of the screen, looks like their moving mechanism is stuck.
 
Haven't played ED for a while, last I played I was cruising in my Clipper. Are turrets a viable weapon now?

Yes they work well but you need at least one fixed or gimballed weapon too so that you can initiate fire.
You can even see them temporarily hold fire when another ship crosses your path, but it's not foolproof (and really shouldn't be). They feel about right now.
 
I use turrets on my phyton, they do their job ..... pulse and burst turrets seem to have best price/heat/hit - ratio

thanks to the "friendly fire" changes, you can use turrets in the conflict zones, now, without aggro everything.

For the clipper you should try the gimballed c3 burst or beam lasers instead of turrets :)
