Tweaks to thruster boost & weapons charge

Was thinking that it is too easy or lacks a bit of skill just hammering away at the boost or fire buttons. Why not have a slight energy penalty for pressing boost/fire before the engine/weapons capacitors is properly charged. For example a premature boost would knock two or three bars off the engine power, making it longer to recharge. This would making timing of boosts/firing an important skill in critical situations. The capacitor could change colour indicating whether it was charged or not to help players out a bit.

Even compared to 21st century technology our ships are pretty outdated in some respects. I wouldn't want them to be even dumber. I'm pretty sure some engineer found a way to prevent things like this from happening. Like rev limiters in today's cars. Should be fairly easy. Sorry, but that's a no from me...

Take your point about technology there would be system to stop it happening. However there are plenty of technologically impossible (probably) things e.g. supercruise & aspects that should be automated anyway e.g. landing, to the game already. The main thrust of what I'm suggesting is from a game play and skill perspective. Is button bashing the way forward or timing and skill?
