Twin worlds

Hi.
I have twin worlds, near the sun both pristine high metal content, they are attached on the system diagram by a line. Each has a port slot and 4 surface slots. Are they treated as ONE object and share resources?, as Im not sure if the line has a signifiance for colonization?.

So, for example, if I build a spaceport orbiting one of them would they share it? According to a youtube video it does share, but I cant find it on official.
ta.

It does not. Two separate objects with their own strong link sets, and only weak links between them.

It's just to show that the two objects orbit a common centre of mass (and that common centre orbits the star) rather than one of them orbiting the other [1].

[1] Technically they still orbit the common centre of mass then too, but in this case that centre is under the surface of the heavier one and ED simplifies the system generation calculations by ignoring that it's still slightly off-centre.

great thanks, on another look only the one planet has a placement for a spaceport, so the 2nd planet will be linked but weak links only. Can i ask where you read/heard this?.

What the linking lines indicate: I'm not sure this is really written down anywhere (though I expect the Exploration forum might have some posts explaining it somewhere), but switching between the schematic and orrery maps or comparing the view of the orbit lines from supercruise should make it reasonably clear.

Each body is its own thing for strong/weak links: as documented by Frontier in the in-game documentation and Update 3 patch notes (you can probably find various in-game examples, since common-centre orbits aren't unusual)
