I was very surprised when ED first came out that it did gather alot of interest mostly due to favorable reviews. After 2 months that the game has been out however, I've seen twitch viewership of the game drop from the mid 2000's to near 200. A ten fold decrease in the game isn't a good sign for its longevity. Further many of the players trying to make this game exciting and worth watching are failing not due to their own accord but due to the plathora of reasons already stated here on these forums.
Specifically no multiplayer
AI is woefully predictive
Risk/reward is terribly out of balance
No purpose beyond a credit grind
So...I suppose in this numerical certainty that the game is going stale quickly in the eyes of viewership. Don't get me wrong the game is an epic achievement having 400 billion stars but somewhere it lost the idea of fun.
Lastly, I know the ED viewership has no desire to change course for twitch. If nobody finds the game worth watching, fine with them. If few find the game worth playing, fine with them.
My real question is since this is likely the last Elite game to be made, are you okay with being so selfish to have created a game so unplayable by the next generation of gamers as to isolate them from something that we all loved as kids?
I really wish FD had higher sights....I hate star citizen...money grubbed tossers but at least he understands gaming has evolved since the 80's.
That is where I leave David Braben....he was a brilliant visionary who simply got too old to relate to the audience...unless the audience is a couple thousand old people who liked his first go.
