If we're speaking specifically of children, I think it's more likely that the more intelligent kids, the ones who like to play games that take patience, are probably not watching twitch much. I think that, just like when we were kids, Elite appeals to kids that are not as much in the "ADD" crowd (for lack of better term).
Personally, the only time I watch Twitch is to check on new games that I'm interested in.
Creativity, imagination, patience, and quite frankly intelligence. You don't need these things to watch Dota on twitch. You do need them, however, to really enjoy Elite.
