Two Ascension Missions for Same Rank

Has anyone else encountered this bug, and if so, did it affect your rank progression? I've already sent a ticket, but I'd like to know if there's any game play effects so I don't waste eons trying to rank up when bugged.

What happened:

1. Achieved Outsider rank in Empire. Continued to do missions.
2. Got an Ascension Mission. Flavour text said I would get Squire rank, but description said I'd get Serf rank.
3. Completed the AM, and got Serf rank.
4. 5 mins later, at another base, I got another AM. This time, both flavour text and description said I'd get Serf rank.
5. Completed the new AM, and am still at Serf rank.

I took 2 naval progression missions (post captain) hoping to jump 2 levels lol... failed dismally, jumped up to post captain but when handing in he second mission was still at post captain... all is good

Just now I got a rank progression for chief petty officer... but it also says in the description that rank progression is rear admiral which is a little confusing...

It's not really a bug

You can only complete 1 Naval Progression Mission to the next level.

Taking more than 1 from the BB in a short space of time will have no effect... as in your case

I have not played in a while but still browse the forums...... This has been happening for as long as I can remember, basicly I found that until you hand in your rank accension mission you will see a new one for the same rank up at each bulletin board you visit(and often after for some reason). it is as if the game does not realise you already have a rank up mission or does not care and is happy to give you another go at it. I have had them appear at each bulletin board (same mission details) until the next rank up mission appeared then after I took that the old ones stopped and once completed they both dissapeared. Yes most likely a bug but as I have found with most the smaller details here it will get ignored for more game design that is poor and bugged and really makes me wish I never spent my $100 on the game I have been waiting on for years.

Count your blessings, if they only spawned one mission for rank up, you might get stuck with an impossible one such as "pirate 10 silver"

As a retired US Navy Chief Petty Officer, I can explain this one real quick. Most Admirals secretly wish they WERE Chief Petty Officers, because CHIEFS run the Navy. Admirals just sit around and are pains in the . CHIEFS get the job done!!!!

This has happened for a long time.
I had it repeatedly way back when trying to level up to Baron in the Empire.

It's basically that the missions "spawned" for you at roughly the same time, to give you "options", but having completed the first one, it won't let you get another rank for the second one (if you haven't got the necessary "XP" for it yet - for lack of a better word).

It's a bug, more or less, but not a gamebreaking one.

It is due to the back end server not updating immediately with your successful completion. So it continues to spawn ascension missions for a few minutes.

At least now they tell you the rank of the mission. Back before 1.1 it only said "Naval Opportunity" or something vague... Took 3 assassinations thinking I had hit a clutch, turned all 3 in and only one rank up :/

Exactly. Once you take a naval ascension mission, ignore all others. Once the mission is done, make sure that you deselect and reselect the BB. This will flush out those missions.
