Two bad mechanics with passenger missions

Yeah I think that's because of pad blocking players, it would be nice if they had some kind of mechanic that just impounds you instead though. Even if it was just a fade to black screen

i thought it was a relic of original elite iterations....

but fade to black can work. cinematic narrative is not a bad thing...

If I'm not mistaken, chaff delays a scan, giving you enough time to get through the letterbox.

Haven't tested, mind you.

Not chaff. Pop a heat sink about 5km out for the station. And then another when heat rises from 0% again. Come in fast and don't fly right next to a Security ship. You don't get scanned this way.

Even pure speed is good enough but a little riskier.

1) If our passenger is wanted, don't blow us up instantly when we get scanned. There are innocents aboard! Give us a fine, a bounty and make us fail that mission, or all our passenger missions. But killing us is over the top. You can bring in 100 tonnes of narcotics and illegal weapons and get off with a small fine.

This has been reported as a bug. Afaik, it's supposed to be a fine, not a bounty. Like smuggling. Whoops.

In combination with the supreme death rays that each station is now equipped with (which I warned heavily against since it can be exploited by trolls/bugs) I already know 2 CMDRs that paid the ultimate price for this bug. One of them losing hours of rank progress on their hired pilot in the process.

Even though destroying a ship for carrying a wanted passenger might seem excessive (although its the players fault for transporting a highly wanted criminal together with innocent passangers) at first glance, the "criminal mastermind" variant of passenger missions is supposed the "thrill ride" variant of passenger missions. If instead of being destroyed, we will get a fine, these missions will completely lose all the thrill and might as well be replaced by normal passenger missions because let's face it: who gives a fart about fines?

Well I don't care what form insta-death by Stations missions take but we need something to remain in the game like this.

It's easy not to be scanned and I enjoy the risk. We need proper smuggling with consequences.

I have a 44 million credit legacy fine for 'smuggling' Imperial Slaves in a T9, that's not a consequence that's a joke.
