Two E:D Accounts, One Steam?

No, not your latest favourite dodgy website, but a genuine question.

I have e:d + Horizons, on Steam. I don't run it through Steam though, I bypass and just run straight through the launcher.

I noticed that Humble Bundle have a good sale on the Commander pack at the moment, so figured now would be a good time to get another account. Humble Bundle give you a steam key.

What's the easiest way to do this that doesn't involve making a whole damn new steam account?

None. You can't own a game twice on one Steam account.

Okay, I suppose I'll have to make a new steam account, then keep it as a spare.

On the upside it's not like you'll ever need to log into that account ever again. Just don't make the mistake of registering keys on the wrong Frontier account

Yeah, don't forget you're going to need a second Frontier account as well.

What makes the key a _Steam_ key? When I bought through Steam, they game key they gave me had to be registered with the Frontier account I had to create, in order for the Elite launcher to let me login. I had assumed that if you wanted to have a second account you'd just create a second Frontier account and then give that the new key. Then in the Elite launcher switch logins. Steam would not be involved in any of that.
