Newcomer / Intro Two Hours In Game - No Shots Fired

So my first two hours in elite dangerous were pretty dull. I spent 2 hours flying around looking for stuff to shoot.

I was hoping to find some mercenary missions or capital ship battles where you just go in and kill ships like I saw on the twich streams where there is a capital ship and you just go blasting.

How can I find some good combat (mercenary mission, bounties, etc...).

The galnet news feed has some info on capital ships etc

For a general blast, if you head near the main star of any system you will find a nav beacon, target that and drop out of supercruise near it (when it says its safe to disengage).

Ships will jump in and out, many with a wanted status.. a perfect spot for some pew pew action and every system has one

Those missions will come up once the faction handing them out trusts you enough.
Do some errands first to gain rep with the faction of your choice.
