TWO keystrokes i daily miss in the game

1. Turn music ON/OFF so i can change between my own player/music or radio without entering in the options screen.

2. turn ON/OFF the lateral menus, so when i look around with my track IR, or in the future, the oculus Rift, those menus don't show up involuntary all the time when i don't need them.

that's it.

Option 2 is already in Beta

I wish they'd implement a music player so we could play our own tunes in ship (with associated effects when the canopy blows). Hardly anyone does that because of the mp3 licensing fees :(

Really? I can't find it. There are options to disable each panel, so it doesn't pop up when looking at it, but I can't find a single button to enable/disable looking at all panels altogether. Having to disable each panel manually in the settings each time you enter combat/SRV/whatever is not really realistic.

yes would be great if we can personalize all that, a folder for "Action" antoher one for "defeat" etc, but i think that is too much dreaming, and Frontier want's to keep it's own identity in the game.

really? those are good news

Why not just disable them permanently and only calling them up when needed with a key press?

i would say no, i like to use my head movement for activate them, anyways if the option of disabling them is there, i think what you propose probably can be done in 2.0 since you can assign keys to automatically go to the tabs..

Because that requires 5 instead of 1 button and takes away the ability to enable panels by looking at them permanently, which is a great feature, but annoying as hell when you actually need to look around without interference.

I've found only the upper panels to be annoying when they pop into view when looking. The lower two I don't seem to get as annoyed with.

But agreed, it would be nice if there was also a global 'disable all panels during look' toggle (voice attackable too). I like the ability to disable just a few (that stupid chat one, and the other upper right one). But I also understand that the more flexibility, the better for all.

I agree, that second option would be fantastic. A simple toggle switch that would prevent the main displays from triggering inadvertently. I don't have a VR setup but do use headlook all the time, and often use it in order to access the displays. Having the ability to suppress the triggering of those displays rather than having to constantly avoid those areas (a real pain in 'all glass' cockpits) would be be so useful. It's particularly annoying because if I'm in mid turn and look over to my side the turn is instantly cancelled when the display assumes focus. A quick key press (or hold) to stop that from happening is all that would be needed.

Yeah, I meant you can disable all panels from opening automatically. Works for me, I use a voice command when I need a panel to open, works fine in normal flight and combat. Agree that a single toggle to enable/disable auto popups would also be great
